That was the message from the party’s candidate in Clwyd South area following a leaked list of UK Constituencies that the Conservative Party were not targeting for the May elections. This list proves that the Conservatives have given up Clwyd South, according to Mabon ap Gwynfor Plaid Cymru candidate for Clwyd South.
The Conservatives inadvertently leaked a list of seats that they were not targeting by revealing the information in the web address of their candidates. Candidates in seats not targeted included the code “Non%20target%20candidates”. Their Clwyd South candidate was on the list. The constituency has been a target for the Conservatives in the past, proving to be a launch pad for characters like London Mayor Boris Johnson.
“The Conservatives have given up on Clwyd South,” said Mabon ap Gwynfor. “It’s unsurprising, because there is so little between the London Parties that people can’t differentiate between them. Plaid Cymru is the only Party campaigning on issues that are of importance to people in this region. On Fracking; cuts to public services such as buses, libraries and leisure centres; improving our health services; pay for public workers – Plaid Cymru is the only party that has consistently been on the side of the people, and have been seen campaigning shoulder to shoulder with the people, while the Tories and Labour have voted together on Nuclear Weapons, Austerity and Fracking.
“The fact that their candidate is a Councillor from Kensington hasn’t helped. He has no connection and no understanding of the area.
“This is a straight fight between Labour and Plaid Cymru. This area has voted Labour for 100 years, and we continue to get Tory Government’s and continue to get poorer. That’s why we are seeing people join Plaid.”
