Cysgod-y-Gaer latest

Mabon & Cyng/Cllr Cefyn WilliamsFollowing the news coverage regarding Mrs Marion Brown not being allowed a permanent placement at Cysgod-y-Gaer, Corwen, I have received the below message fro the head of Adult Services at Denbighshire County Council

“Dear Mabon Ap GwynforThank you for your email. I can confirm that we have agreed that we will not prevent people choosing a placement at any of our care homes (if assessed as requiring standard residential care) providing that we have balanced the immediate needs of the individual with the potential impact on their wellbeing should they need to move following the conclusion of the consultation process.

I hope that this clarifies the situation.”

I’ve issued this statement:

“Marion Brown’s case touched many people in the community. The fact that an elderly vulnerable person was not allowed a placement in a residential home in her community shocked everybody. We all understand that the Council are having to look at the long term future of services which are not statutory because of swinging cuts from the Welsh Government. But during this process they must always keep the welfare of service users foremost in their minds and actions.

“This is good news for Mrs Brown and others who might need the services provided by Cysgod-y-Gaer over the next few months, but the fight to save Cysgod-y-Gaer as a publicly run Residential Home for the area continues. That is why we have organised a Public Meeting at Corwen Sports Pavilion for Thursday 26th February, and are urging as many people as possible to attend, so that we can fully engage the community and ensure that we play a constructive part in the Council’s ongoing consultation process.”
