Investment in Wrexham Libraries welcomed 22.03.11

Mabon ap Gwynfor, Plaid Cymru candidate for Clwyd South has welcomed the redevelopment of Libraries at Ruabon, Cefn Mawr, Overton, Rhos and Wrexham made possible by a £626,000 grant provided by Plaid Cymru Minister Alun Ffred Jones.

Mabon ap Gwynfor attended the official opening of the Ruabon Library following its redevelopment.

Mabon said: “Libraries are like community Universities allowing people to learn and develop their interests and skills. Wrexham libraries are seeing an increase in footfall, proving that libraries are relevant and essential to our communities.

“I was extremely impressed with the redevelopment of Ruabon library. It is an investment in Ruabon, and it can only benefit the people and the community to have such an excellent facility on their doorstep.

“I am proud that Plaid Cymru’s Alun Ffred Jones and his Government department have shown their confidence once again in this area by investing in developing the libraries of Ruabon, Rhos, Overton, Cefn Mawr and Wrexham. This is in complete contrast to the Tories and Lib Dems policies over the border of closing Libraries and denying people their right to educate themselves.”
