Trevor Purt resigns

B9Bpj3bIcAEB5HtFollowing the news that Trevor Purt, Chief Executive of Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board, has resigned, Mabon ap Gwynfor, Plaid Cymru – The Party Of Wales’ candidate for Clwyd South and long term health campaigner, said:

“When the Health Board was put in special measures we said then that Trevor Purt should be sacked. It’s a disgrace that a Health Board suffering financial difficulties kept him on gardening leave for so long. We also questioned the appropriateness of his  appointment from the beginning, with his track record of cutting and downgrading services in the Hywel Dda Health Board and at Rochdale. The Labour Government should not have signed his appointment off. This whole sorry saga raises serious questions about Labour’s competency to run our Health Service. This comes as it is announced that the Board will remain in Special measures for two years.  We have hard-working and loyal staff who have the ability to deliver a world-class health service in north Wales. The rot is at the top, and it’s time to sort it out.”
